About

Queijo graduated with a BA in English in 1989 from Virginia Tech where she studied creative writing under Nikki Giovanni. For her career she chose business and entrepreneurship, combining the creative and the pragmatic to her career in marketing, public relations communication, and journalism, though poetry remains her passion and primary outlet for expressing what must be expressed.

As a writer, entrepreneur, and higher education professional, she has won awards and recognition for her business concepts, technology solutions, video production, and marketing copywriting while continuing to write poetry.

Her poems have been published in several regional publications in the New River Valley region of Virginia and her poem “Touched” won an honorable mention in the Irene Leach Literary Contest in the 80’s.

In 2010, she launched Smart College Visit.com as an online magazine and resource for college-bound students to help them better manage the college selection process.

A regular speaker at higher education and technology conferences, her women-centric speaking engagements have included events such as Take Back the Night (Virginia Tech Women’s Rally), the Women’s Leadership Conference (Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce) and Women Innovating Business and Leadership Conference (Radford University).
